Forums - PC - My PC games keep crashing and I need HELP!!!!

Sorry that I use this site as a tec help so often guys. But I am having lots of problems with game crashes of late. my copies of crysiswarhead, world in conflict, Frontlines:Fuel of War, Supreme Commander, Crysis Call of Duty 4 and even GRIM FANDANGO. I've notice some strange graphical errors in World in Conflict where random pale blue polygonal THINGS start jittering everywhere, I tried to overclock my gpu (250gts) once from a core clock of 740 to about 780 but saw some jaggies and changed it back, could that have done permanent damage. I have good system specs, apart from my shoddy OS(windows xp home edition :P) I have an I7 @2.66ghz 3.2gig of RAM(6 gig really but 32 bit :P) and 500watt psu. The card isnt running to hot i've allready checked that. It's really giving me hell, also I have the latest driver for my card as well. I really just wanna play my games. PLEASE HELP ME!

Did the problems start immediately after the overclocking?

well I did the overclocking when I first got the pc so I dont have anything to go by before that, but the 20 mins of crysis I played before the overclock were problem free

Hmmm, i would check three things.

1. That the comp is properly reading the ram

2. try swapping in another GFX card to see if that fixes it

3. Make sure you're getting good air flow in and around your PC

@Everdom 1-how do I check? 2-okay ill try and find a card somewhere 3-It is and it has like 4 fans

Yeah running memtest would be a good idea. You can burn it to a CD and boot the computer with it to check your RAM:

Let it run for a good while, like one hour at least.

Well what is your 6 gig conficguration like, 2,2 and 2? Because realistically you only need 4 gigs if ur running 32 bit xp. I would take a stick out if thats the case and see how it goes.

Basically just unplug them and plug them back in.

Do you have integrated graphics? If so, you could take out the graphics card and run on that to see if the issues still happen. If they do, then return your graphics card for a replacement (although you probably voided the warranty by OCing regardless of whether that caused it).

Lesson: If you want an overclocked graphics card then buy it overclocked at retail or buy a more expensive card. And also you should have spent less money on the CPU and more on the graphics card. Your games would run better if you had.

allright, yeah might as well have one out if its doing absolutey nothing (I have a 2,2,2 setup)

Yeah, just keep it aside until windows seven or something comes out.
