That's not a hard one. Think about it.

There are two possible options for hats to be placed in the boxes.

BR BR BR

BB BR RR

well it says only pick one i think

Pick one hat from one single box out of the 3 right? And assuming that the boxes are labeled like Kasz did, and that the labels are incorrect, you can eleminate a lot of possibilities until you get it.

Yeah but the thing is... they're all labeled incorrectly.

So say it's BB, BR and RR.

If it's labeled BR.  And you pull a Blue hat out of the Box.  You know it's BB.

So if you know that one is BB.  You know the other two more or less.

Hehe, we're helping toastyboy get some XD

Let's think... let's say you pick a blue hat from box one. This determines that the other hat must either be red or blue. If it is blue, the solution is BB BR RR. If red, the solution is BR BR BR... and there is no way to determine the solution.

Are you sure that is the EXACT question?

They don't give you labels though. If you had ONE incorrect label, everything would be determined.

This is a real stumper. Or maybe you can't answer it.

If it's BR BR BR.  You can actually solve the question without even picking up a hat.

Because you know there are 3 blue hats and 3 red hats.

Meaning not a single box could be labeled BR.  Meaning you'd end up with 4 blue hats or 4 red hats when you counted up the "lies" as every one would need to be BB, RR and BR.

Nm, read it wrong.

very sure

i think that might just be the answer...any other ideas guys before i tell her that 2morrow?

Tell her the question is unanswerable, because I found this question on the internet elsewhere (with answers), but it specifically mentioned how each box was labeled. This question doesn't. Seems impossible to answer.

Then hold her and tell her it will all be okay. It's just one problem, and you can make it go away.
