Because of the 360 comparison... but that's not what we were talking about before in the thread, is it?

 

2007 was supposed to be the worst year for the PS3, selling less during 2008 no matter how close, was seen as terrible, and that came from everyone. Now, all I am saying is, there is no way it wont sell more 2008, it has to.......And frankly those numbers look big, but they are nothing compared to other consoles.

Nov 2008 = 1.04m

You want to rethink your prediction.

For comparison:

Sept 2007 - 329k

Oct 2007 - 548k

Nov 2007 - 1.35 million

Dec 2007 - 1.98 million

Keep in mind that Sony launched the 40gb SKU in late August in 2007 for $399.  It had a much weaker September than ioi is estimating for the Slim, but the Slim is hitting the first weak of September instead of late August.  The new price, however, hit in August both times.

Edit: Also, the Slim is hitting August 24th in NA.  That's tomorrow. That means it's only hitting in September in Europe and Japan.


Considering that, the 2008 holiday doesn't look as bad as some were saying before...

 

Actually, I'm an idiot.  The 360 price cut was in August 2007.  The 40gb SKU didn't release until October.  This hit me after I left my house an hour ago.

Make sense if people are waiting for the slim, why buy a 80gb now when you can wait 2 weeks and get the 120gb for the same price? Sony should have dropped the 80gb to $250, and the 160gb to $299. Sony always seem to cannibalize their sales.
