The said: @adventwolf .... a true gamer would be someone who knows like what your avatar shows, a gamepad, something that didn't start with PC gaming....Many PC games, the best of them end up on consoles anyway. I still have to find a platformer as good as Super Mario, Jak and Daxter or Ratchet & Clank on PC, Action/adventure, RPGs as great as the Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Action games like Ninja Gaiden or God of War, Metal Gear Solid, a racing game better than Gran Turismo, I could go on and on. PCs are for a bunch of RTS and MMORPGs, a little niche puzzle stuff, some FPS (many of which are also on consoles) nothing more. |
Well, games from the n64/ps1 era and before are almost perfectly emulated on a modern pc. I also hear PCSX2 is getting pretty good. Of course, having older consoles hooked up to a large sdtv would be ideal, but even if you are only a pc gamer you can still play console games. I also disagree with your notion that you can skip PC gaming entirely and not miss out on that much.

It is. I tried the latest beta version and Final Fantasy X runs very well on it comapred to the latest official release where it might run okay in a certain spot and the frame rate takes a dive and the game plays in slow motion (think slow motion frame rate drops in Dynasty Warriors for example).

Yeah it runs mighty fine! 1-2 years ago I tried it but I couldn't get anything out of it.
I tried again a couple of weeks ago and tried out Final Fantasy X, God Of War, and DBZ Budakai. DBZ and Final Fantasy X were very playable but God Of War lagged a lot once the action started.
I read the FAQs about the Emulator and it said that it only supports two cores of a processor therefore it can reach higher potential if it supported more. With the 8 core processors out now, I imagine if it was compatible then it would run many games at great playable speeds.
