My laptop (VAIO FW 468) has a blu-ray player/burner and while watching movies, I can get an hour out of the battery Outside of movies with just light use, max 2.5 hours.
Burning Blu's really kills battery life, though; it brings the battery down substantially.

Can u even burn an entire BR disc off just one charge?
Maybe it is better to get a DDVDRW, battery lasts longer, etc.

Yeah, it'll make it through 2 50GB discs...but not much more than that.

So you feel it is definitely a battery hog.
