Does the PS3 let you have a good voice chat system? D: There are so many dos and don'ts of both consoles, so there's really no need to come in thumping your chest. :P

I think the ability to play blu-ray movies, play the best Japanese games, and have free versus $50.00 a year online trumps a good voice chat system anyday.  Besides, I don't have a good voice for voice chat.  I remember the last time I got on xbox live and people started ridiculing my voice, so why would I want voice chat?

Games that involve team work involve it, and not using it makes your team that much crappier.  The real question is why wouldn't you want to have a manly voice so you CAN use voice chat? ;)

you make it sound as if theres no voice communication options at all on PSN

When I look at them side by side, this is what I get
(the rest is pretty much the same)

PS3 slim ($299):

- Free Internet (PSN) (mostly same features as XBL, execpt cross game voice, which is rumored being worked on)
- Blu-Ray
- Controller (no batteries needed)
- Web Browser

- HDD Replacement
- Smaller

Xbox Elite ($299)

- Better Internet (although it cost $50 a year to play online)
- Free Headset

I didn't include exclusives games, since both system have equal and great exclusives!
So in the end, Xbox will be the more expensive one, where you have to either buy batteries,
or rechargeable batteries if you want wireless, and that you have to pay, to play.

A Blu-Ray player also cost quite much ($150 +/-) which is included with the PS3.
It's a shame that a headset is not included, but the Blu-Ray player covers that up, and much more!
In my opinion, PlayStation 3 is still a winner, when it comes to most value for the money.

Both consoles is great in their own ways though, but I seriously think Microsoft should cut out that $50 yearly cost for internet.
That's utter crap, making their customers pay even more to play their games online..

edit: okay, so it's no free hdmi cable for the new elite, that kinda makes it even less valuable compared to PS3 slim, but it's still a great console nontheless.

I'm from Southern Kentucky.  We have little control over our voices here.  They descended straight from our ancestors that were deported from England and took up residence in these isolated hills.

eh? whats wrong with ps3 voice chat? it just cant do cross game voice chat thats all, and there probably will be a firmware updates to add that eventually.

Games that need voice chat for teamwork are built into the game by the devs, Sony does not need to offer a universial service for every game if voice chat is not needed for every game, so to some extent voice chat is in the games that need it, and its free.

- the free HDMI cable from the 360, it doesn't come with the new elite anymore.

Edit: Also I agree with that live payment, it's the biggest thing holding me back from buying the 360 arcade.

I don't think the OP is serious; mostly just taking the piss out of all the Sony domination threads.

You could be right but unless you are an internet mind reader I'll take it on face value.

Yes it has been confirmed!

What we have been waiting for, for a VERY long time

Microsoft has announced their elite model to be $299 as of sep 1st! thats a $100 price drop

Goodbye Ps3 Goodbye Wii

The real genearation has begun

i dont get it man

how will the elite being the same price and not including hdmi cables outsell the ps3?

bad news for 360 fans the arcade stays 200$ thats only a 100 price gap between ps3 and arcade in 2007 ps3 beat the 360 during the holidays wen the price gap was 120$ between cheapest ps3 and cheapest 360 imagine wat it will do now that its olny 100$

if some1 had 300$ to spend on a HD console i think the majority would pick the ps3 slim this holiday season free bluray and online and built in rechargable contoller

it doesnt matter wat the elite costs the mass of 360 salses last holiday season was the arcade b/c it was 200$ cheaper so they would save a ton by not buying the ps3 now that its only 100$ savings, but with the ps3 ull get a 120HDD and all the rest of the stuff the arcade is messing that the ps3 has

with thtis data i dont see the 360 outselling the ps3 for awhile let alone the wii

I edited my post now, so now it seems xbox is even less valuable compared to ps3 slim.
And yeah, I agree, I won't buy a Xbox 360 as long as there's a cost for internet aswell.

Lets see...

A failure prone machine that only plays DVDs with a 120 gig HD: $299

A stable machine that plays DVDs and Blu-Ray with a 120 gig HD: $299

hmm..it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where the better value is. MS's only stronghold at this point is the arcade model. I'm sure that's where most of their sales will still come from, and rightfully so. $199 is the only 'feature' the console needs on top of playing video games to be a great value.

I think this thread is a joke..it has to be.
