Forums - Gaming - What's the big deal with disk swapping?:

Why it's difficult? Why a game having more than one disk makes internet forums go on fire?

No big deal for me when I was having fun with Lost Odyssey beside more more people can install their game on hdd now a days am I correct?

Because of technological advancement.

We used to swap discs on our PS2 playing FF 7, 8, 9 etc because that was lik what....10 years ago. Now its nearly 2010, and only the Xbots will defend their machine saying that there's nothing wrong with swapping 1 billion discs.

So yeah, men used to travel using a horse and cart...now we travel via cars/trains etc. We can go back to the olden days and travel via horse and cart, but who wants to?

i dont really care but id rather not do it... and i aways lose 1 disc

The answer is obvious my friend, one system has a bigger disk capacity so everyone else must be struggling. Unfortunately most of us have not be struck down by some crippling disease and we are completely unware of the damage we are doing having to use multiple disks.

Not really a big deal, but there is no need to defend it ether, it's better if it isn't there.

Star Ocean 4/Legend of Dragoon type disc-swapping where you need other discs to go back to previous areas gets aggravating quickly. Everything else is fine.

The point my little friend that it is not a big deal and the xbots and pcbots as you so affectionately refer to the rest of the world are coping fine, the only people who actually bang on about disk swapping are those trying to defend the Blu Ray stance.

^^This. Well said m8. I always ask "Why is it worse than watching solid snake smoke a cigarette for seven minutes?"

I'm not a fan of swapping between multiple discs for a single game on PCs or consoles.

I hope it's totally gone next gen.
