I don't know. The PS3 essentially needs a lot more space than either the PSone or the slim PS2.

There needs to be a hard drive and the Cell processor takes up a lot more space than the Emotion Engine as I recall.

The Slim is noticeable smaller than the original PS3, hence people calling it the slim, but this is only the 1st physical reduction sony will do, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they had another slimmer version next year to coincide with its motion controls...Sony PSP has seen success in terms of sales boost with slightly better SKU's every year...so it could also be done with the PS3, after all Apple also do it with their products.

Haven't Sony always done that? ie Playstation became PS one and Playstation 2 became PS2?
