Forums - Microsoft - Whats the point of a bigger HDD if you cant use it?

So i got the red 360 Elite,120 gig HDD and all.

I had like 30 gigs left and i had CoD Map pack 1 and 2 downloaded already.

So i install another game and then i go to play WaW and it says i dont have map pack 1 but 2 works fine.

I clear some useless games and i have 60 gigs now and i redownloaded it and now it works fine.

Whats the point?

Wait, so what's your question?

You're asking why your map pack is messed up or mad that you're filling up your hard drive?

I'm sorry but you don't make sence! Your implying that once you reach over ~90GB you can't play all games anymore?

Yes why does having less room make my map packs not work.

Whats the point of having a bigger hard drive if you cant use the stuff if you bought.

Theres some space that you cant use on every HD. Like on my 40 GB HD I can only use 37 gigs etc.

Sabby e17 i understand that but out of 120 they automatically tell you what you cant use.

Say if i had a 20 gig it would say 17 gigs free,so you can use up that 17 but my 120 said i had 30 left and i couldnt do anything.

Because your using an xbox ;)

Erm are you sure this is the case? Have you tried filling the space after reinstalling MP1? I'm sure it was some kind of installation error or something, Or loss of data?

If it happens again well it's your fault for buying a 360 :P

Im taking there's no OS software installed on the HDD? And when you say it's nearly full, do you mean by the space indicator information or by subtracting the amount shown used on the HDD vs 120GB?

I am going to go out on a limb and say this is a user error.

Johnny bravo oh yeah definatly xbox mine fails like  60% of the time  now

lol

yes i know that dosent make sense.

I dont know, but its supposed to tell you how much you can use. But now you know that you can only use 90 gigs out of the 120 gig HD.
