Advertising material says $629 RRP with special limited launch price of $599 for Slim. Phat used to be quoted as RRP of up to $779 but there were always bundles and specials for less. $729 was a common price flashed in front of people bundled with 1 or 2 platinum games.

Interesting price comparison table. What one needs to figure out though is whether the prices quoted include or exclude sales taxes. For us the price advertised (and the RRP) always includes a 12.5% sales tax (GST). What about Aussie does the $499 include Aussie GST? But I understand in other countries RRPs always exclude sales taxes esp like in the USA where local sales taxes vary from state to state. Is the UK price inclusive of VAT? I imagine the Eurozone price doesn't include sales taxes, if there are any, in each of the Eurozone countries. Is the japanses price inclusive of sales tax (is there one)?

We Brazilians get screwed when buying both hardware and software. 360 is official here, and it costs 850 dolars, games we can get at small stores for 100$ the release and 70$ an old game. At big stores you could find PES 2009 for 200 dolars.

All aussie quoted price includes GST, does uk have VAT? I thought that was continental europe only?
