Yep. those pics and video really show it.
PS3 slim is simply shorter/wider and a little thinner.
Obviously still a better set of insides to make it thinner and less costly to produce, but, not what I originally envisioned.
If I were to want one at the new price, i'd buy the existing model. Looks better with free games. However, the new one will probably include games as well.
This should crank up that poor (around) 77000 WW sales of late.
I do wonder about the costs for Sony. More red ink, i quess? We will see.

I'm doubting it and I don't think the memory cards really served any purpose anyway. Sure, it was easy to simply take the SD card from a camera and pop it in, but it was also easy to just transfer things through USB.
So it looks like a dvd/blue ray player now? I like it, its alot prettier than the former model.

As you can see from the pictures, this PS3 is less domed than ealier PS3s, but it's still a lot more domed than the 360 or the Wii.
I didn't believe they could actually drop the price all the way down to $299. Sony means business. I'm still sad that they didn't include PS2 BC, though.
I'm glad that I haven't been telling friends to hold off on a purchase for nothing. :)

The about 1/3rd less energy usage is good enough for me. I just wish they had scrapped the dome thing altogether. Hate that crap, I like to stack my consoles thank you very much.
