Bioware has certainly fulfilled their promise of Mass Effect 2’s visual prowess with the new batch of available screenshots. How does the sequel stack up to the original, visually speaking? Check out our comparison and see for yourselves. For higher resolutions, simply follow the attached links in the titles. Screens on the left (or top) are from the original Mass Effect while screens on the right (or bottom) are from Mass Effect 2.

Better, worse, or strictly the same? Admittedly some details look better than others but in my opinion, the game is as much a visual leap from it’s predecessor as Assassin’s Creed 2 over it’s original: A noticeable difference but nothing earth-shattering. Nevertheless, we’re looking forward to the release of the sequel, and the opportunity, among others, to kill our protagonists off in alternating phases of curiosity and sadism.

Not much better

I don't see much of a difference.

The improvement is there, but when you can hardly see it even with up close screenshots like these, its not much. I am a little disappointed.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

There is an improvement but the character models already looked really good in the first game.

Better lighting is always good!

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

LOL. Only 3 of those should be compared(character close ups) and there are incredible amounts of compression artifacts on all of them.

There are improvements...but not visable to the naked eye+ the pics are terrible for comparison

There'll be some slight improvements basically due to going from UE 3.0 to UE 3.5 or whatever the last version is.

If I had to pick, I'd rather they don't touch the graphics quality and instead focus on framerate, loading pauses, texture loading, etc.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

I think it does look better, but not a HUGE step forward. But thats not bad since ME1 was not a bad looking game at all.

The only problem was the framrate. As long as they handle this, fans should be fine.
