Forums - Sony - Why BC is not critical for the PS3 ???

@Willem:

Actually, it's the honest truth. They had a super-fantastic trade-in deal at a local retailer recently, and I decided to take advantage of it. I ended up paying less actual dollars for the system than I did for my Wii. The reason I did so was because I was interested in obtaining a 60GB model with the Emotion Engine while they are still available, and there are games I expect to want in the far off future (White Knight Story, whatever Team ICO produces, etc.). Because I was able to purchase the 60GB system at a price any of the SKUs will probably not reach for years yet, I figured I might as well go ahead and do it. The sad thing is I looked through the list of the top 40 games on GameRankings and couldn't find a single one that I wanted to purchase that I didn't already own for 360. Oh well. I did buy a couple Blu-ray movies (plus I get 5 free ones), which is obviously what Sony wants me to do...

I still use my ps2... It's now connected through my pc.... So it wouldn't bother me if it did'nt have BC. I'm just glad I got mine with it :)

  Unleash The Beast!

End of 2011 Sales: Wii = 90mil, 360 = 61mil, PS3= 60mil

Put it this way If you want BC get the 60gb while you still can. if they all gone by the time you have the money you better hope the 80gb has a price drop.

To be honest yes sony's PR is confusing but at the after you get passed all the BS they are just giving gamers what they want when ever we cry about somthing.

gamers cry about no rumble. they pay millions to immersion to get it back.
gamers and retailers cry about high price (even though the thing cost 825 to make at launch) sony luanches with a Japan price drop, Has a clearance sale mid summer for 60gb ps3 100 bux savings, adds a 400 bux SKU without BC.

To be honest if your a gamer and you don't have a Ps2 you fail as a gamer. the only excuse any gamer should have for not having a ps2 is that it broke.

@grimygunz:

They didn't pay Immersion because they wanted to. They paid because Immersion sued them and won. After the suit was over, they suddenly decided that they would re-incorporate the "last-gen" techonology that they had previously shunned.

I don't disagree with you that they are actually moving in some directions that the public has demanded. What I take issue with is the fact that they refuse ever to admit that they've made a mistake. They take the attitude that they can just do whatever they want, and the world will have to follow. I think the world will decide for itself just fine, however...

Yes, god forbid you would have to unplug a console and plug in your Playstation 2.

 What about me, who doesnt have a PS2? =

then go buy one, they're actually still supported... unlike the others.

Who buys a 600, 500, 400, or even some day a 300 dollar console to play old gen games ?

Atleast until your PS2 breaks.   If mine breaks again that'll speed up my 80 gig purchase.

is VC on Wii enough proof that people want to play part of the history?

Apparently 70% of the people polled by NPD. Or atleast that's part of the reason.

 So your saying that I should cough up for both a 40GB and a PS2 and essentially pay the same old price for less convenience and a worse console?

The point I'm trying to make is that not everyone has a PS2 and that anybody who doesnt will probably not want a 40GB =
