Was it confirmed, after the conference call with that Sony exec, that PS3's are now only about $240 to make? If so, how long has that been the case?

 

Or was that comment of his open to interpretation and/or unconfirmed?

I doubt it that in this economy the production costs were cut.

I would assume that 70% figure applied to the upcoming Slim. Also, if you use the % on the initial value of the ps3 in yen and then convert it to USD using today's (much different) exchange rates, you get a figure around $309, if I recall correctly.
