Forums - Gaming - Hardest final boss in final fantasy games?

How the Hell did so many people find Ultimecia that hard? She wasn't hard! Hell, she was almost as easy as Kefka!

Zeromus is pretty hard, I gotta say, in FFIV DS in particular. Chaos - from the original FFI - is also a beast.

DS FFIV  was SNES FFII.

And yes, that is the hardest boss ever.

4-5 different forms, fight takes like 30-40+ mins.

You have up to 5(or is it 6?) characters in your party. And everyone will die 2-3 times apiece if not more, you have to keep

ressurecting them as they die. Then theres reflective magic that cause your heals to bounce off your characters if you

try to use reflect to save them from dying, but if you put reflect on them, then they cant be healed directly. Insanely tough fight

SnakeEyes what fight are you talking about? I don't think any Final Fantasy boss has ever had that many forms.

Snes FFII

I was wondering if they toned down the main boss when the re-made it for DS.

But DS FFIV is a remake of the SNES FFII.

Usually they tone down the games when they remake them.

If you want to face the toughest boss you've ever seen in your life, get a emulator and find SNES FFII.

There were a couple really tough fights in this game, but the main boss is ridiculous.

I spent a month trying to beat just the main guy. I'd go level, come back and die 10 times in a row, and eventually quit.

Then after a few days I would  try 4-5 times, get killed every time, quit  an comeback a day or 2 later.

Till finally I got lucky

Seymour's second form on Mt.Gagzat. Fuck I had to restart the whole gamesave to beat that ball muncher. And Emerald Weapon

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I owned the SNES cartridge. The US version of it is much easier than the Japanese version, which was also much easier than the DS version. The DS version is absolutely brutal, and the only reason I compare Zeromus to Chaos.

Zeromus only had two forms, by the way. Three if you count Zemus.

Well, I posted this in the other one but since this one was more about final fantasy and first i thought i post it in here also. FF8 final boss wasn't the hardest for me but i have a funny or maybe epic story to tell. This is just a copy and paste.

I have an epic story about the last boss, well i think it's epic. I had Selphie in my group and had her slots going and it think her best spell was "The End" well i was on i guess the fourth form, if that is the last form, and it was taking forever for me to kill her or it or whatever. Most of my characters were dying and i didn't think i was going to win. So i thought i would just have some fun because i knew "The End" would not work on this boss. But i always thought The End was pretty so i used it. And it totally amazed me when The End work it was soooooooo awesome because it is the coolest move with the sun shining the green field and flowers and then those two words, The End. And it was i beat the boss i wish i could have recorded it. I tried it again later but it didn't work i guess i was lucky.

I don't think i have ever had a boss that was too hard for me to beat. In Final Fantasy games. I usually like powering up my characters as far as i can. In FF 10 i powered them up where their attacks went over 9999 to 99999. So i went to the cave where all the most powerful bad guys were and just slaughtered them. I mean i still got some of my characters killed but i was always able to bring them back.

He final boss of Final Fantasy 10

That's kind of hard accounting i never beat a main FF, so ill say some from FFX.

I'd agree with this, but only the first playthrough when you're not too sure what you've been doing the whole game leveling up your guys and drawing magics the wrong way. At the end of my first time playing the game, I missed most of the GFs and I couldn't level up my guys the good way and I turned out to be underpowered. After replaying the game a few years later, the final boss was a breeze because I found out about a little GF called Cactuar and other good stuff like that (I was also used to the gameplay mechanics).

I think the hardest final boss in FF is the one in Final Fantasy III. What a cheap ass mother f**ker!! And I thought I was overpowered too (I've been grinding a lot in the game). But just when you think you're about to finish the game... *First turn: Attacks three times all your party members. Die already... WTF just happened?*

This. Ultimecia is still the hardest IMO even if you'prepared and didn't miss major things due to having to lose characters and other weird stuff. All FF final bosses are easy and she's the only one who actually tried to be challenging. The biggest joke of all the FF bosses was Sin (FFX boss). Is there anyone who'd have trouble defeating sin after surviving Great Marlboro's and Behemoth Kings as random encounters?

If your looking for challenging storyline bosses though, FF is not for you because it was made so the mainstream don't get frustrated. Check out ShinMegami Tensei: Nocturne if you want to actually play a challenging JRPG.

I agree that he was the hardest boss in FFX mostly because chances are that you couldn't get past lvl 3 keys on the sphere grid. However, thanks to cheats like mega-flare, he really wasn't hard. FFX summons are some of the more overpowered ones in FF history
