I will have to say both are nice in their own respect. I had an original launch year fat ps2 that was stolen by an ex girlfriend of mine (along with 90% of my games). I did not have much money at the time so bought a used fat one from EB Games. That one worked great until lightning hit it during college. After that I went without a ps2 until earlier this year when I bought the slim ps2 after the price dropped to $99. I absolutely love the size and portability of the slim. So for me it is a toss up, though I think that the mass consumer base likes smaller consoles better.
