Ya, I was really bored O.o

I want to try out something I thought would be unique. I want to try an interactive AAR, so I'll be at a crossroads, and you guys decide what I do:

So right now I'm playing as Portugal, and they've finally defeated the Moors, taking North Africa, and the Spanish being long gone, giving me the entire area of Spain. France has attacked my frontiers and ports numerous times, and the Pope has gone on an excomunication spree, excomunicating Milan, Sicily, France, and the Holy Roman Empire. I am allied with the English.

Should I attack the French? Or should I attempt to take Italy in one sweep, as it is in complete turmoil, divided by numerous, excomunicated factions? I'll be able to get near to the Papacy, and take a more direct role in politics with assassinations and bribery.

I don't know how rich Italy is in Medieval II, but I'm going to assume for now that it is a trading centre only rivaled by the likes of Constantinople, and the Eastern coasts of the Turks and Egypt.

If I do attack France, I'll have to fight a longer war, and try to take the Rhine, which is still hard to defend itself.

If I do take France though, I'll be able to take England and Denmark quicker.

So:

1. Attack France, using its excomunications to my advantage and finally put an end to its harrasment.

2. Attack one of the Italian factions (A) Milan, Western Italy, B) Sciliy, Southern Italy, C) Venice, D) Holy Roman Empire [strongly discouraged, since I won't be able to end the war for a while]) and work my way towards taking the entire Italian peninsula.

3. Other (Go towards Egypt, England, etc).

An expedetion towrds the Sahara in search of possible riches.

Allied with the English, war with France, who is allied to close neighbor Germany.

Papal Politics

If I can win by auto-calculate (or can't be bothered to fight it) then auto-calculate it is. If not I need to intervene and crush the enemy myself!
