A Halo movie flat out will disappoint.

You obviously do not care for quality, as you are a fan of Bruce Cambell.

IESB has posted an interesting scoop saying that Steven Spielberg is in talks to produce Halo: The Fall of Reach, screenwriter Stuart Beattie's adaptation of the Eric Nylund novel that is based on the series of video games. Here's an excerpt from their article:

IESB has learned exclusively (believe me this is solid and I've confirmed it three times over with studio executives and our close ties to CAA) that one of the biggest producers in Hollywood history is currently in active negotiations to develop the feature film adaptation and no it's not Jerry Bruckheimer or Peter Jackson. It's the man behind Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and Transformers, Mr. Steven Spielberg.

Spielberg is blown away by writer Stuart Beattie's take on the game in his script entitled HALO THE FALL OF REACH. This coupled with the fact that his Dreamworks umbrella is looking for a big tent pole to help launch their newly independant studio with distribution over at Walt Disney Pictures after losing Transformers to Paramount in the separation, it's the perfect combination.

If Spielberg gets attached to a Halo project, it would equate to as close to a green light authorization as one can get without money changing hands...Spielberg has THAT much power.  Looking at Transformers, you can expect that if he's interested, it would increase the likelihood of success on this project...not a shoe-in, but definitely a shoe-up...Peter Jackson has  alot of cred because of LOTR, but he spent alot of ammo on King Kong...which was an excellent movie....btw.  The thing is that commercial success is what's most important, and Spielberg not only has tons of cred in that department, he's got a resources to back him.  This would be a positive development for the Halo project...to add to it...if M$ can time the movies release with the game...you're looking at the biggest entertianment media launch ever!

Just about everything Bruce Campbell does is tongue in cheek. Yeah, and the Evil Dead series were terrible. Grow up.

You are unnecessarily acerbic. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging a director's past works for their quality.

Keep in mind guys, that the director is much more important than the producer. But, with a producer like Speilberg, they will be able to get a damn fine director.

yea like he did with Michael Bay for tranformers 1 & 2 and the Island

again no thanks

All three movies that you mentioned were fucking awesome so why would you be against MBay?  The irrationale hate for Bay boggles the mind.  All of his movies are highly entertaining romp-fests, which is what I want to see when I go to the movies.  Leave all of that cinema as art crap in the coffee house where it belongs.

bad boys bad boys II the island transformers 2 and i can keep going on

michael bay sucks balls at movies

the only movie i like from him is transformers 1 thats all

and my bad spielberg didnt produce the island but he did give the screen play or story to bay

so no thanks

spielberg hasnt made a good movie after saving private ryan

oh and he is exct producer of the MIB 1 and 2

and oh god they r making a 3rd one

All the movies you mentionded besides Transformers 2 were pretty damn good.

But I don't think a Halo movie will ever surface unfortunately.  I've given up hope for it...

Will people stop saying that he directed Transformers? He only produced it. Michael Bay directed it. Besides, don't lower Spielberg's name by saying that he directed it. He's a better director than that.

Wow, a lot of unnecessary hate for a person.

Thats what I was thinking.  I don't think Shia is that bad of an actor, and he's really not in that many movies.
