Best Buy Testing Amazing Price Match Policy
Company serves a plate of ownage to Gamestop and Game Crazy.
by Jim Reilly
August 7, 2009 - A Best Buy store in Utah is testing a new price match policy to help compete with lower used price sales at Gamestop and Game Crazy.

The policy, which was recently implemented, will allow customers to purchase brand new games for the used prices at those competing stores (see below).

A Best Buy representative confirmed to IGN, however, this is only a market test for that particular store. The company could not comment on the chances of this offer becoming nation-wide. Individual stores are allowed to perform their own market tests, separate from Best Buy's corporate strategy, the spokesperson said.

IGN reached out to Gamestop as well, but we were told the company could not offer a comment at this time

What does this offer mean to you, the consumer?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

How could that possibly be sustainable? Surely they pay more for the new copy shipped from a publisher than the used copy brought in by a consumer?

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
