Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft damage control...What are they going to do?

Really, the only excuse would be price, but the PS3 will be approaching 5 million consoles sold in Japan after this Christmas as a result of its holiday lineup there while the 360 is still going to be struggling to ever reach 1.25 million in Japan.

japan isn't enough anymore though..
Maybe if we were talking handhelds, but we aren't.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

Of course more success in Japan brings more Japanese exclusives to PS3 and that begins to differentiate the PS3 and 360 lineups. It might not ever have that much of an effect in America, but it could really make a difference in Europe. A game like FF Versus XIII which will most likely remain a PS3 exclsusive will sell the usual at least 2 million that FFS get in Japan, 2 million in Europe, and at least a million in America on PS3 bringing more Japanese exclusives in its wake.

I think the gaming market in general is to devestated to offer exclusives. Capcom is making it by only because they went multiplatform. Square is making FF twenty or whatever multi because they need to make the developement costs worth it. And versus is so far off and shrouded it really isn't worth mentioning. Not to mention the fact that a good selling final fantasy game changes.... nothing. Look at the psp.

The reason those Capcom games went multiplat is because games on 360 sell like horribly in Japan, and when a console has a large enough install base (like the PS3 will have after the release of FFXIII and GT5 in Japan this holiday season in Japan and Versus next year), they don't really need to make multiplat games.  You haven't heard of any of the Yakuza games being ported over to the 360 yet, so some that is evidence that some Japanese developers already feel that the PS3 has a large enough install base that they don't need to make multiplat games or even bring them over to the West.

Also, Versus is not that far off.  One year isn't that far off.  Trailers have been released for the game and it has been known to be in development for at least three years.  Square is just concentrating on getting XIII out this year, then they will have Versus out next year sometime between the end of June and Christmas 2010 (White Knight Chronicles released in Japan on 12-25-2008 and had good sales, FFXIII will most liekly release exclusively on the PS3 Christmas 2009 and it will have huge sales as it is the first new console FF in 5 years, and Sony will really like to keep the trend of big Japanese exclusive rpgs releasing in the Christmas season alive in 2010 with the release of Versus in the time frame I mentioned.  However, I also think there is a good chance that Versus XIII could make it out about the same time that XIII releases on PS3 and 360 in the West  Edit:  And actually that makes a lot of sense.  They could release Versus XIII for PS3 in Japan about the time XIII releases in the West, then have the exclusive Western launch of Versus XIII in the West on PS3 Christmas 2010).

interesting analysyst my friend

Price isn't the sole reason the PS3 is being outsold.

Yes...Yes it is.

You know, a perfectly viable explanation is that the Xbox 360 does really well in the U.S.A. and the U.S.A. is a Japanese publishers next port of call after their home country for developing games.

Tease.
