Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft and their dang hardware!

Well, the truth is a lot of 360's have problems. I always treated mine well and it got the rrod. Some people say these later models like Jasper correct the problem, but there is evidence that they don't. If you have a 360 and you decide to buy the three year warranty, then you really need to strive to play it enough to get rrod, so you can get another one before your warranty is up.

Alright I've been a gamer since the 2600. I have owned every platform Nintendo has built, half of Segas and all of Sony's consoles at one point or another. However of all my platforms I have never even had to send one in for repairs, ever. Untill I bought an X-Box 360. Here's some of the things I put my consoles through.

I played my SNES for three days straight the console was so hot that I couldn't touch it. I actually burnt my fingers when I touched it. I turned the console off and let it sit for a day or so. The next time I played it was perfectly fine the console played just as good as ever.

I dropped my GBA into the water outside , I freaked out. I turned it off and let it dry off. Turned it back on and the console played as if nothing ever happened.

I got my GameCube when I was in foster care. Being as such tons of kids played on it and roughed around with it. I remember once I had it up about 7 feet on a shelf so that the little kids couldn't get at it. One of the kids tried to get at it and ended up dropping it 7 feet onto solid concrete flooring. The console was later dropped down a flight of stairs, it had pop dumped in the disc drive and it still ran perfectly.

My Wii, I have left my Wii on for days at a time and it is always running (WiiConnect24) to some degree. Now yes after all the usage it does now make a loud buzzing noise. But the console itself still plays fine. My Wii was also dropped from about 4 feet onto a concrete floor and a kid snapped the top off of it. But it still runs smoothly and plays all my games.

I remember playing my NES and Atari 2600 for upwards of 8-9 hours back when I was like 3. The consoles both got over used but neither one actually stopped working. During my years I have also owned DreamCast/GameGear PSOne/PS2/PS3 though my PS2 wasn't technically mine it was my foster parents.

Now my foster brother owned an X-Box Origional and it over heated and fried, he had to send it in to get it fixed. I in 2007 decided to buy myself a 360 and as of yesterday my 360 red ringed and I have to send it in for repairs.

So of all the consoles I've owned (Every Nintendo Console built) , (some of Sega's consoles) (Every Sony console). Why is it only Microsoft's have ever broken down?

Is Microsoft really that bad at producing working hardware?

I never owned a PS console, but I've had consoles all the way back from the Atari 2600...and I've had problems with every brand of console...Atari, Sega, Nintendo, Intellivision, Coleco (sp)...so pointing out M$ as the only one is both false and disingenuous.  I'm glad if you've NEVER had problems with others...but to state that as doctrine is nonsense.

And people are surprised by Microsofts lack of stable hardware because? IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 30 YEARS!

Like many have said, the original Xbox was rock solid, so many though at least their console hardware would be neat. Obviously they slipped up, I doubt very much it will happen next gen.

And what hardware has Microsoft been making for the last 30 years anyway?

o.o so you've dropped your systems in water, down stairs, on concrete, spilled soda on them and left them on for 3 days straight. if you did that to your 360, that's probably why it got rrod

Sony´s console weren´t great either. My PS1 must be turned upside down for playing. If I don´t do this, nothing.

For PS2, I´m currently on third. DRE in both cases.

So yelling on MS only is a little unfair.

Xbox 360 failure rate>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> PS1 & PS2 failure rate combined

You are quite full of it. When it came out PS2 had atleast 15% failure rate within the first year. Much more after the second and third year. Also, first 3 gen models of PS2 were affected with DRE issue. You could fix it (just like you can fix RROD) if you knew what you were doing.

PS1 as well had a high failure rate for first gen models...

So this whole ">>>>>>>>>" is completely wrong.  PS1 + PS2 failure rate should be about equal to xbox 360 failure rate.

Whats worse is that sony only gave you 90 day warranty for both PS1 and PS2. Where Microsoft gives you 3 years...

i want the new 65nm, they are quiet, almost non existant.
my ps3 40gb is 65nm/90nm , gets very loud when my room cross the 30 C, and it does that in the day.

I'm surprised any of your consoles still work, considering the beatings you gave them.

I had 3 PS2's break on me, 1 NES break on me, 1 SEGA Game Gear break on me.....Microsoft is not the only one who has had issues with consoles.

Well you must of had used consoles.  I don't believe you could of had 3 PS2's to break unless you break them on purpose or break them by moding them or something.  I only had 1 PS2 that lasted over 7 years.  The only problem I had was it would freeze sometimes but all consoles will freeze once in a while.

Uh no.  They don't.  That's a sign something is defective.
