Where have you been hiding? I'm surprised you think I need a link. What about this one:

All I saw in that thread was a prank by a member of neo-gaf. I said a official statement from SONY.

You'l get one of those on August the 18th, although it's already obvious.

So, basically what you are saying is that all you are going on are a couple of doctored photos and random blog writers?

No, although they help.

I'm going on the way retailers are trying to get rid of 'phat' PS3 stock, I'm going on shipping numbers, I'm going on the article about how Sony has reduced costs by 70% (obviously the Slim they are talking about), I'm going by the fact that Sony needs a price drop and this ties in, and I'm going by the 'leaked' packaging of the console, which is totally in line with the PSP Go's and Sony's recent TV ads.

I saw them selling for $200-$230 broken on Ebay, which is pretty close to the expected price of a PS3 slim. I also saw them sitting in the $350 - $400 range for working systems.

Wow I ha no idea they were going for that much

The games you listed dsister44 don't interest me enough to make that purchase. When is mass effect 2 coming............... now that there is a damn good reason.

The only game on the PS3 that you've mentioned that actually comes out this year is Uncharted 2.

If you are interested in ME2, it comes out in 2010.

As far as the 360, some exclusives you should be interested in are Splinter Cell: Conviction, Forza 3, Shadow Complex, and Halo: Reach.

He mentioned Uncharted 2, Ratchet, Gran Turismo 5 and God of War 3.

The first two are confirmed 2009, the third is almost definitely 2009, and the fourth is early 2010.

Also, rather amusing funny that you play the "this year" card about impending PS3 titles whilst of your suggestions regarding impending 360 titles you mention Conviction (Spring 2010) and Reach (Fall 2010)...

@ Adjudicator: Squilliam's suggestion seems excellent; choose that option!

My suggestion:

Get the console repaired and sell (I hear the 60GBs are worth a premium) then take $$$ from repaired console and buy a PS3 Slim when it gets its price cut. If you trust someone here, they could handle the transaction for you.

Heh I never considerd that. Not bad at all.

Unless this "person" I can trust is you .....lol

You can always trust a Mooloo man (Ask Squill).

I don't care what you get, I just wanted to say respect to your avatar.

Thanx. I thought everyone had forgoten about good ole Kain and Raziel

Again I believe that article was proven to be false. Are you sure they are not just trying to sell more PS3s? Like I said before I am going ot bed. Type out a response, and I (might) look at it tomorrow

I think you know the likely-hood of it now, there's no need for another response.

And that article was later proven to be true again -_-

Someone who lives closer to you should help you with the details, like whether its best to use gamestop (as they don't test consoles much) or sell on Ebay/Craigslist etc.

Tease.

Selling the broken console may be your best bet actually.

If you get $200-230 for it, it would be about $150-170 less than what you would get for it working, which coincidentally happens to be the exact cost of having it repaired by Sony (what do you think buyers are doing with those broken consoles?).

When mine died, I bought a second console and then had the 60GB repaired a couple months later (received a refurbished unit in a new case about a week or so after Sony received my brick).

Now I have two working PS3s and have considered selling the 60GB since it sees minimal use and is mostly a convenience (which could fetch me about $400 used) that lets me keep two consoles hooked up to two different displays and play PS2 games (again a convenience, but hardly essential).

Personally, I'd just take the money you would spend on an Xbox and upgrade your PC (I have no idea what you're currently working with) with a current VGA card unless the Xbox exclusives are what you want.

Through 2009 it's Halo, Forza 3 and I'm not sure what else. Someone refresh my memory.

Plus the Xbox is also due for a hardware refresh next year and likely a price drop as well. If I buy another one, it will be after the launch of Natal as I have my own theories regarding pricing, bundling and hardware revisions.

Oh dear god, another one.

Just get yours fixed.

Well my 60GB PS3 just got that flashing red light thing tonight. The problem is that II don't live in the states. I bought it off of amazon in august 2007 and had it brought to my country by a friend of mine. To have it fixed by sony will cost $150 plus all the charges for shipping in and out of my country not to mention the bastards at customs.

So my question is should i wait until they release the slim and just buy a new one? Or perhaps buy a 360 or wii. Just pinging some ideas.

Buy a 80Gig or 160Gig, those dont have the light problems. Dont get a Slim, in all of the pictures released it looks really ugly. Also, they will probably have over heating problems since they're so small.
