Everybody ´s talking about production costs of PS3 and how much Sony is losing in every PS3 sold. But sure Sony is also losing money by releasing games in Blu Ray dics instead of Dvds, and PS3 has sold ~ 143 milion games... Anyone got any information about production costs of blu-ray discs vs dvd?

So, if a DVD hypotetically costs 10 cents to produce, a BD costs 11
^ even at 5 cents, the production costs would be 7.15 million more (even more considering that number is apparently for numbers sold instead of shipped)
uhm, even tho i find it hard to believe sony is turning a profit on the ps3 now. iunno how its possible but it makes the 299 ps3 slim with bc more viable now.
anyways. blue ray discs dont cost much? its the player itself which was one of the main reasons for the hight price point
And dont forget the only way Sony is making money nowadays is by screwing every penny out of companies for producing stuff on blue ray. The sooner people realize what a rip off BR is the better!

It is true that Sony's division which includes disc manufacturing is losing money:
I don't know how much of that is due to Blu-Ray though. The division also sells recording equipment and other video related stuff.

Only 5% ? Blue ray discs should be cheaper than they actually are. SO, they are making a lot of money in each film BR disc sold.
