Forums - General - Your first Terabyte (TB) of Storage

Simple question:

Aproximately when (ie year/month) did you have/get your first TB of storage (ie hard drive space)?  Alternatively if you don't have a TB yet you can project into the future when you estimate you will have a TB of storage or more.

Hmm...5 years I suppose.

My HD Camcorder takes up 8GB of memory per hour of video!

A long time.

I probably won't get(need) one for a couple of years.

Probably 5 years. I don't have enough porn to neccesitate that much space.

Considering getting one soon. They're getting pretty cheap.

But i don't really have a reason to need that much space.

Only have like 140 gigs on my PC.

Don't pirate and don't create stuff on my PC so....

Still if i pick up programming or the deal gets amazing enough i'll likely jump in, in the next couple eyars.

Programming won't be a reason unless it is a special aspect of programming you are referring to.  Most of the code you'll write will be well below 1MB in size.

But the deals already are pretty good really:

-$120 for 1.5TB with 3 yr Manuf. Warranty

$90 for 1TB with 3 yr Manuf. Warranty

Still I understand what you mean - you can go broke buying up stuff like this if you do it without a real reason to have it.

I don't need that much on my new PC, maybe .5 TB.
Though I also plan on getting an external HDD along the lines of 300-500 GB.
