THQ predicts hardware price cuts
Boss Brian Farrell says two of the three current home consoles will see price slashed in current financial year
As the industry continues to struggle with the death of the established hardware cycle that has defined the games industry for over two decades, THQ boss Brian Farrell has predicted that two of the current three home consoles will receive a price cut in the next nine months.
Speaking to investors after THQ's recent financial posting, Farrell refused to be drawn on which two out of the PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 will receive the discount, but did add that the presumption had been factored in to the publisher’s forward planning.
In addition, Farrell aggress that new console releases are unlikely in the near future, with additional new peripherals instead keeping the hardware market stimulated for the next four to five years.
