So are people here saying the title of this thread should be "component orders surprisingly low" considering the 13m shipped forecast? 3m seems to leave them with a lot of woirk to do to get to the 13m.

Sony has a dismal track record on forecast accuracy. This forecast of increasing PS3 sales by 30% in a recession year was at the very least, very suspect.

At the beginning of the year I said they'd need to pull a huge rabbit out of their hats to attain it. Now I say it's outright impossible unless they cut the PS3 price by like $200.

Their prediction for FY08 was spot on- 10 million. They wouldn't just randomly out of the blue say "HEY ITZ GONNA RISE 30%!!!!!!!", they have something up their sleeves, but with how long they've waited, I'm not sure it'll be enough to meet their, admittedly optimistic, forecast.

I thought Sony's initial forecast for FY08 was higher, then reduced later in the year.  I could be wrong, though.
