to the next RE producer: think Resident Evil 1 to Code Veronica, learn a little from stuff like Condemned and Dead Space, and please no more mandatory/main game co-op.

Although a great game and visuals, RE5 was a disapointment for many (especially original RE fans)...It lost the thrill of being aware and looking around for zombies, sudden attacks, few herbs, limited ammo, etc
Hopefully the producers will take player feedback into consideration and not try to make the game something that fits in with popular these days (action shooter)...the game would probably sell more if they switched back to survival horror too; I know so many friends who only rented the game and refused to buy since the game didn't have what original RE games had

Resident Evil 5 was amazing, things have changed and hardcore fans have to accept that.

Since the RE franchise has already branched into multiple game genres (action, rail shooter, FPS, etc.) they could always overlap more than one game at a time under different development teams.
But I'm inclined to agree that the main RE series (next chapter being RE6) should return the main franchise to its horror survival roots, more in vein with games like Siren Blood Curse, relying heavily upon lighting (or absence of light) to establish mood and tone, restricted POVs to create a more claustrophobic feel, limited resources to maintain a sense of helplessness and panic while maintaining some of the aspects of the current games that still work and keep the series current.
If they want to do another action style RE game, then I only ask that they reboot the game play and controls to match the action (fast run and gun, quick reloads, cover and roll system, etc.).
