Forums - Sony - Sony will not post a gain for this past quarter

New exclusives: As we have all been seeing, PS3 is aquiring quite a few new JRPGs and a lot of other exclusives. Almost every day I come and lurk on the chartz I see a new post about some new ps3 exclusive. What this suggests is that Sony is doing exactly what they used to do. They are helping to develop new exclusive IPs from the ground up with their own programmers. Not to mention that they have also dropped the cost of their dev tools by 75% or so. What this means is a lot of new games, but also a lot of expenses.

What exclusives are you talking about? Seriously, every day a new exclusive, I'd love to see that. Anyways, I doubt that Sony will be posting a gain this quarter mainly because of R&D for the possible slim. I would say that the software sales would help it out alot, but as MM said, only inFamous dropped in the time span.

There were a crazy amount of exculsives announced before GDC took place. Now we get a new PSP announcement like every week lol(PS3 every 2-3 weeks). :P

Edit: So who else thinks they'll launch the slim with GT5? Like they're doing with GT PSP and the GO?

Prediction:

TGS this year for PS3 will be amazing.

Grandia comes to PSN(PSone classic).

First Versus gameplay this year.

The Adventures Of Duane and Brando

I don't think SCE is going to post a profit for a while now. Since they are combining some likely loss making enterprises in with the division. I wonder how many people will become hypocrites because of this changeover and the bad performance of some of Sonys other products which will all merily combine with SCE.

Tease.

I can go on...
Looking at xbox and wii, xbox has about half the number of "announced" (I quote it because they may all have been announced at different times, but in line with my OP, I see these Sony announcement threads on a daily basis) . And Nintendo has about 3/4ths the amount in the same time period.

So you're comparing the psp with the xbox / wii?

But war... war never changes

^ are you making fun of xbox?

why does it always have to be comparing one console to another with you guys?

I'm just using the number of games as evidence that Sony has been actively pursuing 3rd party connections and support with new franchise IPs, a point I made in the OP. I'm not saying any system is better than another.

If you don't read the OPs you can just stay out from now on.

Why do you think they're breaking even on the PS3? Last word we had just a month or so ago said they weren't. From sony themselves.

Actually it was this month wasn't it?

Activision: Lower the price Sony!

Sony: We're still losing money on every PS3!  Geez.

I didn't say they were breaking even on ps3 alone. I said maybe with home by itself, or with one game or one controller

I'll say it again lol

Japan - FF13 with Ps3 slim bundled

America- Madden 10 with ps3 slim bundled.

Europe - Gran Turismo 5 with ps3 slim bundled.

Funny if that happened.
