If Nintendo went bust, fans would follow the franchises.

I disagree for one reason. Like stated by Iwata himself, if Nintendo will go out  hardware gaming business than Nintendo will go out  gaming business  ( Nintendo will never follow Sega demise ).

The motive is, I belive , that the real Nintendo Difference ( competitive advatage ) in this industry is that it is the only software house with an hardware division. Nintendo gamedesigners could choose the hardware. Iwata is the  only CEO of a big company that knows how to develop a videogame ( he was a game designer/programmer at HAL Laboratory ).

I used to be a Sega fanboy but switched to Nintendo when Sega pulled out of the console war. I doubt Nintendo will cease to exist soon, even if they lose the console war they still have hand-helds and I believe that they will continue to dominate that market for a long time. If Ninty did go bust I would probably go to Microsoft or switch to PC gaming.

If nintendo, sony or MS stepped out of the console market where would there fans go... we've already seen that with SEGA, a lot of their fans joined with Nintendo fans... where would the nintendo fans go to, who's consoles would the sony boys buy and where would the 'xboy's' get their FPS fix from...?

your thoughtz please...

 ask segaians!!!!

If Nintendo went it would not matter which way I went, Sony or Microsoft as neither company have much to offer when it comes to exclusives on their console.

depedns. This gen is Wii had busted I would go to 360. Last Gen I would have gone to PS2. In the future if Nintendo busts, I may quit gaming, as I don't like the direction the rest of the industry has slowly been moving in moving in for the last 15 years....

If Nintendo would stop, I would quit gaming... Maybe still play Sims on computer (Mac... Getting one next year! ^^) but that's about it. Even though I like some games on the other ones, I mainly prefer Nintendo and I guess I have other stuff in life that I want.

Nintendo would likely beomce the #1 or #2 WW 3rd party publisher is it went bust... and if Nintendo was smart they would side 100% with whatever company busted them, and then give it their all to have there ally dominate. Then when the other company went bust, Nintendo could get back in the console race...

If Nintendo went out, I'd probably stop console gaming, as the PS3 and 360 aren't providing enough of the games I enjoy. :(

I remember that Nintendo said that if they went down, their franchise IP's would be taken with them so nobody else could use them.

I didn't know that. THat does sound like Nintendo though. Ugg... if that happened, I would get a 360, and play it with my friends in High School... and then once I get to colledge quit gaming, probably forever. 90% of the games that I want/appeal to me are on Nintendo consoles... well 85% now... curse you rare...

If Sony failed the fans would go to MS, and viceversa. this is because fans of these consoles are a narrowminded bunch who thinks Nintendo are only for Kiddy-games.

Nintendo-fans would go where the Nintendo-franchises go. Personally i won't buy a system where there is no chance of a Zelda-title
