Forums - Gaming - Assassins Creed is terrible

I was contemplating buying AC2 so I just rented AC1 again.... I quickly remembered why I sold it in the first place.

The game has a good story, good character design, and good presentation... But that's about it. The rest is terrible. The game was NOT FUN at all for me.

The platforming isnt platforming. You just hold the run button and it's all done automatically. I felt like I was watching someone else playing the game as it really limits your control of the character.

Battle system was mediocre at best. Actually I think it sucked. It was slow and repetitive.

Load times are bad.

The "tutorial" at the beginning is annoying to say the least. TUTORIALS ARE NOT FUN. Why make me sit through a 20 minute tutorial on a game that I just got. That absolutely killed off any excitement I had when replaying the game.

The stealth is nothing special.

I've been playing for two hours on AC again and it seems like the entire game you're just running around from point A to point B. That's pretty much all there is to it.

Well just don't play it, it's that simple.

Yeah. I have no urge to pick it up again at all.

AC must be the most overrated game this gen, and most certainly sold way more copies than it should've considering how bad it was.

I give AC a 5/10.

It's not my favorite game ever, but I'd still give it at least a solid 8. I just found that there was something disturbingly cathartic about throwing knives at those annoying rooftop guards...

AC2 is gonna be one of the best games coming out this year.  The first one was an absolute blast! I don't see how anyone can not enjoy it.

stiff controls, lame combat system, fake platforming, repetitive gameplay, the entire concept of the game is NOT GOOD.

Run from here and go there... ok. Now run back across the city and go there... ok... now run across the city again and go sit on a bench to eavesdrop.

the entire concept is terrible. I doubt I will be picking up AC2.

I guess you're only used to 360 games, so you don't know any better. hehe jk.

But check my posts above if you want to see why I dont like AC.

The first AC wasn't that bad, there are way worse games out there. I'd give it a 7. It is very repetitive and the fighting does suck, but it can be fun tracking your kill and the story is good (the few bits you get to hear it anyway).

As far as it always being about going from point A to point B... have you ever played a video game? Every single one of them are like that. Even the open world games like GTA. You go get your mission (point a) and then you go do your mission (point B) and then you come back to finish your mission (point a again). This really can't be considered a compalint against a single game. In fact, AC is better at this than most games. At least you have a little bit of freedom to go where you want.

I pretty much agree with his review.

I would not recommend this game to anyone. Even a 7/10 is way too generous.

Yeah the presentation is good, but everything else about it is bad. The gameplay is horrible. You admitted that yourself.

That must mean that you haven't played that many 360 games...

I can understand why someone wouldn't like AC since it was very repetitive.  It probably helped that I played the game in installments, doing a few assassinations then taking a break for a month or so to play something else.  I never really got that bored with any of it.
