Forums - Gaming - Next gen is in nintendo and microsofts hand

Im a ps3 fanboy i have a 360 and i used to have a wii.

Looking at how rich nintendo is and also how rich microsoft is and how much the ps3 lost billions,

I cant help but wonder if there will be a ps4 or not.

Looks like we only have 2 choices next gen what do you guys think?

Well Microsofts original goal was to be 1st in there 3rd gen so if they dont. There original goal would fail. I wish Ms comes in first next gen.

I think Sony will stay in, they will have to lose several more billion before they consider closing down their games department.

If PS4 loses money, then they will drop out.

As for who will sell the most next gen, I honestly don't know and I don't think we will know until a year after it's started.

Sony's not going anywhere. A popular handheld device along with a brand that is still showing to be popular on consoles. You just don't kill a brand like that without another go. Now if something similar happens in the generation after then maybe they'll start thinking otherwise but there will be a PS4.

Sony is just going to have to rethink the next generation. They will probably release something that isn't, spec wise, that much more powerful than the PS3. But they'll boast some new features among other things to sway buyers.

Really its MS and Nintendo who will have more radical changes with their next systems but mainly because they have more room to work with than say Sony. They'll be in positions to make those more radical changes. Not saying Sony will play it safe, but from my perspective they are going to play next generation a little safer. Nothing radical like Nintendo did.

I think Sony has too much ego to drop out any generation.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

sure times are bleak, but you can't ignore the success of the ps1 or ps2. If sony muddles up again with a ps4 then yes- i'd think it would be the end for sony as far as gaming is concerned.

Comebacks are always possible- just look at nintendo. Last generation their cube was lapped like 5x by the ps2. this time- they're up by double. It's anyone's guess at this point in terms of next generation.

*eyeroll* there will be a PS4 5 6 7 ext....anyways, I think that its up in the air...the big 3 all have a shot a winning

Radical changes such as Avatars with pets and motion controls?

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I never understand these threads. Sony has proved they know how to succeed in the gaming industry, one screw up and now they have to drop out?

sony is a business and if they keep losing billions they wont be a business anymore.

They could sell all their franchises to microsoft and nintendo for billions and make back all that money.
