Forums - Gaming - Which Wii/DS/Ps2/PSP game should I give to my 9 year old cousin?

My aunt ask me to look for a game for my 9 year old cousin (who has autism btw) because her only game is GTA: Vice Stories. Though the game doesn't influence her (Spongebob is a prime suspect), my aunt just wants her daughter to have more choices (especially after my aunt saw me playing GTA: San Andreas).

So anyway, here are some things you might consider (not everything in the list has to be included though as long as one of them is there):

- My cousin is fond games with an open world or has a lot to explore (she enjoys games such as GTA and the 3D Console Zelda games)

- The game can be M-rated as long as it doesn't swear a lot/has EXTREME gore (although GTA: vice stories swears, you can usually only hear it in cutscenes and the death animations of people there aren't realistic enough for her to imitate)

- She likes animals and dinosaurs (which is why she prefers Twilight Princess than the other Zelda games)

- Button commands should be as simple as possible (whenever she plays Banjo-Kazooie, I always need to be there...it's killing my free time )

- Difficulty/length doesn't matter since I'll be the one to complete everything in the game so she can explore those without a worry.

- No sidescrollers (3D Mario games are the only mario games she likes)

I think that's about it... Oh and I also see her watching Kingdom Hearts vidoes on youtube recently.

So...any thoughts?

I highly recommend Loco Roco 2, very easy and fun. Its for psp, about 7 hours long, and its $20 new.

hmm...Loco Roco might not be a for her (though I agree that's it's a great game) since it's in 2D but I will try though since there are a lot of cute critters in that game ^^

mario party ds.

Star Fox Adventures (assuming you have a GC controller for the Wii)

If exploring is the main pull of a game (ie not interested in completing objectives and such) then you can't go wrong with Endless Ocean. You swim around by holding B and pointing where you want to go, and interact with A.

Okami has a lot to explore too.

psp games:
Test Drive Unlimited - huge open world arcade racing game
Me and My Katamari,

Wii:
de Blob,
Animal Crossing,
Elebits,
Opoona - cute and very simple jrpg game. she can actually play it by herself or should be,

Rune Factory/Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing game could be good on any platform, i think. also you can get her pokemon main series game for ds.

I haven't played it but wouldn't games like animal crossing be good for her?

no real threats, a bit of socialisation is possible....

Animal Crossing sounds like the type of game for her? Run around town and do chores endlessly.
