Forums - General - Deadliest month for US in Afghanistan since the war started (2001)

The reason this month is the deadliest month for the United States in Afghanistan is because the United States has recently started a campaign that is (basically) like the surge and will hopefully have similar results ...

The disapointing thing is that so many politicians and members of the media who opposed the surge, and claimed it was going to fail, now fully support the strategy without ever admitting that it was successful or that they were wrong. I can accept someone's position evolving as they realize their previous understanding was incomplete, but they should at least be mature enough to admit that their previous position was wrong.

Not only that, just because it worked in Iraq, does not mean it will work in Afghanistan.

The reason Bush dragged his feet in Afghanistan, is he realized we can not win there. Not really knowing what to do, he just kept a small force there to look like we were trying to win, with a little loss of life as posable (my opinion).

Aside from Attila the Hun, no one has been able to take the mountains of Afghanistan.
