1. I LIVE IN THE US. I DO NOT GET/WATCH CHANNELS IN THE UK. I WAS JOKING. 2. I haven't gotten to play my 360 for about 4 weeks, because my brother took it on a trip... I got it in '08. 3. I just think it is ethically wrong. Paying is paying. It feels like I'm being cheated... Unfortunately there's not much I can do about it. Think how much faster they could make downloads with the bandwith they use for advertising... And no I don't think they're fast enough when I have to wait 5 - 10 min. to download 3 GH:WT songs...

BBC is rebroadcast by most major US cable and satellite providers. It generally provides a less biased view of US politics and events if only because it's not from the US (where you have some very left-leaning networks and some very right-leaning networks).
Cable television costs money and is full of intrusive non-skippable ads - and at the same time it costs far more than xbox live. Yes, xbox live is partially advertizing funded - and partially subscriber funded - just like many, many other services.
The bandwidth of the ads is insignificant compared to downlaods. You are comparing what is likely a 500kb video file to a game/medie download generally in the range of 250mb-6gb.
