Forums - General - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen a box office BEAST

The movie is doing pretty well. Its still in the top five box office films this week. The movie will probably make 800 million worldwide before the film is out of theatres. I know for sure that the DVD sales will be pretty good.

I know I plan on buying the DVD.

I think poor word of mouth and horrible reviews will stop this from having the long tail the other top grossers had. Also recall the top two selling movies of all time each have 11 Academy Awards. That all starts with an incredible word of mouth about their general quality. On the foreign front I think Transformers is only coming in third for the year, behind Potter and Ice Age. It's things like this that might seal it's fate. I still believe in the end, the foreign total will help Harry Potter jump into number one for the year.

i really did not enjoy that movie but special effects and the name itself make it popular

I'm not sure if I wept more reading the thread title or watching the film.

So disappointed.

Yeah, looking at the current billion club Transformers has little chance of making it. Other than The Dark Knight all the other $ billion movies got >60% of their WW gross outside of America. Transformers isn't even close to achieving that ratio. So it will need to go the Dark Knight route and garner >$500 million from the US box office. It's had a great run to get to $380 million (soon to surpass Revenge of the Sith) but it's tailing off much fater than TDK. It should make $400 million in the US when it disappears from the screens, which is a mighty effort, but it won't be enough to put it past 1 billion WW.

I LOVED the Constructicon's balls jokes. It was so lame and cheesey, but John Turturro can do no wrong in my eyes.

I have no memory of Robot Heaven, that is all I will say on this matter. We will be buying the Blu-ray no doubt, though I won't be paying for it.
