According to boxofficemojo the new potter has made over 104 million USD on its first day worldwide. That includes a 58 million first day in US (a franchise record) and another 45 million internationally aswell.

Love or hate potter, but it knows how to bring in the cash.

Very impressive indeed

Not to mention its only in 33 markets internationally at the moment. It has a near endless list of smaller markets to release in and several very important markets such as Russia, Germany and South Korea still to go. So expect some nice openings from those markets as-well.

It'll be interesting to see how close this one gets to the billion mark.

And IMAX aren't even playing it until late in the month!

@ Bolded: Well, the first got to 975,000,000 so I think this one will come close but won't touch a bill. Deathly Hallows, though, will imo.

I get the feeling this will get over 900 million but miss out on the billion mark. But I agree that at least the last Deathly Hallows film probably will get over a billion thanks to ticket price inflation and the fact it'll be the last film. Not to mention the good reviews this one is getting will help the last two films.

The Potter films typically gross in the $700 million range. This one will likely be in the $800 million range.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Only one potter made less then 800 million, the third film.

J.K. Rowling doesn't have enough money yet.

She's a billionaire isn't she?
