Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 Fall Update - 2009 [Wow!]

It’s Yours Forever! – As with other Xbox LIVE content, Games on Demand titles are linked to your Xbox LIVE account, so you can delete and re-download anything you have already purchased to the same console or another console.

"It's not something we have planned, just because the size of the games is massive. With Blu-ray we can put up to 50 gigs on a dual-layer disc, while [Xbox 360] is still on a 9-gig media. So technically it's possible, but I think the issue would be, 'Do you want to download 40 gigs and keep that on your hard drive?"- Eric Lempel from Sony

PWNED!
That's how you do it Sony...You make it so people can delete games off their HardDrive but still own it.

Looking forward to this a lot! Especially the avatar stuff, for some reason!

Looking good, Microsoft continue to improve things.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

What exactly is your point here?? You know Sony knows this is an option right? They have already done it with titles like Warhawk, Burnout Paradise, Siren: Blood Curse, Socom and all their PSN games.. Yeah, so that's real PWNED right there indeed!! Lulz... On the other hand, I would rather not DL games (at least not 40GB games), but buy them on hard media formats. That's just me though...

OT: Seems like a bunch of great features for XBL coming in this update. Movie theater is epic!

Exactly how many PS3 games are pushing 40 gigs?

Ehe, what? Hold on, I gotta clean my screen from that first post. Now XBL is even more worth the $38.98 I paid for the 13 months!

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

I wish XBL was free. >:(

i absolutely don't.....

for 2 reasons.... it is because you pay for it that it is better than the competition networks and that's a fact... everything run smoother even for the silver members because of that....

the second reason is that way we avoid to have all those 10 years old prick or at least not that many, not like you find on free networks on PC and consoles....

if PSN was that crazy good for free why is that they don't have a bigger proportion of users ???? and on PC I don't know anything offering that many services for free... don't come to me with steam.... it is good but nothing to compare here....

XBL is not perfect though it has even many flows but having a fee is not one of them it is one of the reason you know those other flaws will eventually be fixed

^ You just opened up a can of worms for yourself

lol was thinking of re-grabbing netflix but since friend has it, I'll bum off him :P. Quite a few nice updates

I know I'm getting annoying...... but it's my new modern war..... :P what do you have people with burning everything ?????

the time it takes to rip and burn a DVD you can download 3 of them on your HD and stream them to your TV.... hell you can even DL the HD version...... space the issue... I can guaranty you to find a Tb HDD for cheaper than it's equivalent in DVD or BR..... (not even counting a player here)

and once again your pseudo need for a boxed copy or hard copy... is completely in your mind.... this habbit will disappear by force anyway.... because with a disc it's packaging shipping etc representing 99% of oil derivatives.... trust me in the next century it will be more expensive to own plastic than diamonds... so just for a cost reason or an environmental one IT WILL BE A THING OF THE PAST.... hell couple years back IBM was even looking again in the pierced card system for hard memory solution....

i don't really care, in years on this forum i haven't seen one valid argument discarding those 2 here.... i'm not even pointing any negative points on the other one really... I'm giving the reason being not free is a positive one for us.... and once again I'm not rolling on gold like most young people now a day.... and saving for a year of XBL gold is in the grasp of about any living soul in the western world at least..... it's 15c a day you can do that helping a grandma put her errands in her trunk...

but come on give me a reason why it should be free... the anarcho cyber communist world utopia of internet died 10 years ago already.... people should be bitching more against there ISP slacking of on updating their technology and keeping their prices sky high instead of bitching against the actual SERVICE PROVIDER.... like I said for 40 bucks tops to an ISP i expect to have free land line in and out calls to other land lines.... reduce cost on calls to foreign countries and cellphones, a internet connection at 20mbps in DSL and a free to air cable box receiver.....now if they were doing that (and trust me other country do, and there tax and reglementation are not lower than USA) that would save up money for me over a year to cover a netflix account a XBL account a gamefly account and even some extra MS point every month
