I agree! Though I'm a newbie myself, it's annoying to look at those "faces" with a question mark. And since we're at it: imo it would also be nice if people would at least have something in their profile.

Some say you are not born with a soul. You must earn a soul. Thus it is with avatars on these forums. The faceless mob is usually ignored, but if one of them proves to be a member of merit or some importance be they unique, strange, popular, or misanthropic. Then and only then do others seem to strongly advocate that member obtain a avatar for purposes of recognition.

This isn't a problem it is part of what gives these forums character. As you run through a thread with a lot of tit for tat sometimes you will spot a familiar face you like to read and stop. That is the power of avatar. Of coarse first you must actually be interested in what that person has had to say before.
