I put about 8 hours in it so far and really have enjoyed it. It won't replace any retail FPS (K2, CoD, R1 & R2 etc.) games but for $15 it is a really good package. I'm sure you all know the deal by now. It is basically 3 capture the flag maps from Battlefield 1942 (Wake Island, Iwo Jima, & Guadalcanal) with upgraded graphics, squad voice chat, and destructible environments. Additionally, once the server reaches a set number of kills an air superiority (Coral Sea) map will enter rotation. There are 3 classes; basically an infantryman with an M4 and grenade launcher, rifleman with a Thompson and a Bazooka, and a Sniper with a Sniper rifle and TNT to blow up building/bridges etc...
This is the first time I have played BF and it plays just about like any other FPS with vehicles but the planes are bit hard to control. I have managed to be able to fly them fine but killing something with them is another thing. If you haven't flown a plane in BF you use the right stick to control the rudder, and the left stick to control the flaps so basically you use the right stick for elevation and left to steer. Usually when I get a plane I go on a few bombing runs but the bombs don't seem to have much splash damage so I don't kill much. I find that bombing works well in 3rd person but when I try to dogfight I switch to first person. It is all very challenging and I can see if you master it, it would be awesome.
So the last thing is many people will instantly compare this to Warhawk and refrain from buying it since it isn't an exclusive. I have played Warhawk but am by no means an expert and I think with some patches and some DLC, this could compare very favorably. The air game is more difficult to master but could be more rewarding and the ground game is just easier and a little more like CoD (with vehicles) out of the box. And it is nice that players aren't bullet sponges...
All in all, this is probably one of the best multiplayer downloadable games I have purchased and VERY MUCH worth the $15. I was playing The Conduit last week and will probably go back to it once I get tired of BF, since I like the controls and I enjoy old school shooters too, but this game is a blast. If you have the money give it a look.
