Forums - Microsoft - Remedy:'Alan Wake is Xbox 360 exclusive' (PC version shelved indefinitely)

Shio, I asked you not to bring up DD sales lists. There is no data for us to go with those lists. There are several games that are in the top 10 XBL Community games sales every week. Does that mean that they are selling tons of copies. No it does not, it just means they are selling more than the ones below them. It could be 100 copies that they are selling.

As far as evidence to go against what you say. I provided two links, one saying definitely that the 360 outperformed the pc version. One saying that there were 13 million copies of the game sold at the time 2 months ago. I provided VGChartz sales numbers for the PS3 and 360 copies of the game. Which in turn showed that the PC could not have in fact sold more than the 360 version. Your only argument against this would be that VGCharts i overtracking the 360 version by a hell of a lot, or that the company does not include sales from cmany regions of the world. This last argument does not make sense. Why would the company not include these sales numbers? Adding another 10 million units to their press release sounds like something they would want to do. There is no way in hell that they did not include any sales. Are you saying Activision did not publish the game in all regions, and that someone else did? Otherwise Activision would be aware of all sales, everywhere in the world. Because the money goes back to one place, their account. I am sure they keep a close eye on their money.

Wow, he actually came back and said CoD4 sold more on PC.

Also, I love how he has zero items to back up his claims. Wow. I am flabbergasted.

He also mentioned a graph produced by a site that has no direct line to Live data. They are basing there claims on members of a site. Very inaccurate.

"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence"

Ever heard of this? Even though I can't be certain it sold 10 millions on PC, you also can't be certain it sold less than X360's because there's no conclusive evidence of that too. The only thing we can be certain of is that it definitely didn't sell little because it was the Top selling game on Steam and D2D for months, it still shows up on several DD Top sellers lists, and Activision said, nearly a year later, that it was still one of the 5 top selling PC games.

It also rivaled Sims and WoW (you know, those +10 millions sellers) titles on retail top seller lists for over a year, except COD4 had the advantage of being sold on Digital stores, while Sims and WoW pretty much were not. Even now COD4 is still 10th in Steam's Top Selling Action Games.

I have explained the reasons as to why I believe COD4 PC sales are extremely high several times, I have no need to explain it again.

Shio in a court room.

" Judge, please no. Your evidence may be right, but there is an absence of evidence. Therefore I go free "

LOL. Hahahahahahahaha.

I hope to god your not a lawyer.

people are only punished for a crime when there's conclusive evidence!! Good god, if you were a judge you would send to jail everyone that didn't even have any conclusive evidence of crime! You would punish more innocent people than guilty ones.

VGChartz conclusively get there figures WW. Not from like 6 countries as you claim. Maybe we should ask IOI to put an end to this stupid debate. Where you think COD4 sold 8 million more than the developers actually say it has. And 8 million more than VGChartz WW figures say it has. I'm sorry but VGChartz has always proven itself very very close to the actual figures of real WW sales. So yes this evidence is perfect to convict you of.

It's like saying Ferrari said their new car tops out at 225mph. But you telling us it does 260mph because your mate said that's what he did in it.

Seriously. IOI please come on and tell this guy where you get this sites sales figures from for COD4.

Remedy Entertainment has revealed that the Alan Wake project is now an Xbox 360 exclusive - as the PC version has been shelved indefinitely.

This follows comments from the game's lead writer Sam Lake that the team is "fully concentrated on the Xbox 360 version".

A Remedy spokesperson has since confirmed to Digital Spy that the firm is "currently working exclusively" on Alan Wake for the console and that any decision on a potential PC version now rests solely with publisher Microsoft Games.

"Our PC plans are currently open [and] therefore a joint PC/Xbox launch is not possible at this late stage," said the representative.

"Remedy has a deep heritage in PC gaming and we would love to see a PC version available for our PC followers. Ultimately, however, this is a decision that lies with our publisher."

Read our interview with Remedy's Oskari Häkkinen on all things Alan Wake this Sunday.

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

JaggedSac and DirtyP2002 gave strong evidence showing that you was wrong.

Come on, the worst console for activision(ps3) is 2.5 times the revenue of the PC nom-mmorpg games, if it's not mmorpg it really is DEAD.No point putting this game on pc

They haven't. Activision itself said that the numbers they reported were only from 5/6 markets, most of them console-centric. They didn't include numbers from portugal, sweden, norway, finland, iceland, russia, ukraine, poland, and other dozens of countries, and no doubt they didn't even mention the digital sales.

for example, when they reported COD4 sold 7 millions it only encompassed North America, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Benelux. Only France, Germany and Benelux are PC-centric, but they can't even compare to North-America (USA+Canada), UK, Italy and Spain. This means they left out dozens of PC-centric countries and digital sales.

I'm pretty sure any sales from WoW on retail is included on "MMORPG section", and any Digital sale from a PC game is included on "Distribution section" (which is what EA does too). so this shows nothing of how it really is.

I take it their financial reports also don't count sales outside of the 5/6 console centric markets aside from the fact that to do otherwise would be considered fraud.

Tease.

I explained above. Also, and I'm not sure, Activision released significantly more PS360 games than PC in 2008.
