LOL right. All this does is create poor ties between the dev and publisher. The dev will likely shop their next title to a different publisher.

Same goes for CoD WaW. And Left 4 Dead. Gabe Newell said in June that there is a L4D community of 3 million players (Check: http://kotaku.com/5286185/valve-responds-to-left-4-dead-2-boycott-vows-support-for-original ) according to VGC Left 4 Dead on Xbox360 made about 2 million of those 3 million. (Check: http://vgchartz.com/swlaunch.php?reg1=All&game1=Left+4+Dead+-+X360®2=All&game2=®3=All&game3=&weeks=100 ) Bioshock - Take Two said December 07 that Bioshock sold 2 million copies. (Check: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3165101 ) |
COD4 - I stand by my opinion that COD4 has sold 10 millions or close to that. Whenever Activision released figures about COD4 it was only taken from the sales in 5/6 countries, most of them console-centric markets, and did'nt even add dozens of PC-centric countries to those figures. They also never even said anything about digital sales.
COD WaW - yes, this one definitely sold more on Xbox 360. I'll give you that.
Left 4 Dead - lol. There was a chart that estimated there the current amount of L4D PC gamers were almost 3 times bigger than the X360 gamers. L4D is also still selling quite well on PC, and on Steam.
Bioshock - lol. I have little doubt that Bioshock is a big success on PC, possibly reaching 3 millions or more (even more so now that the sequel was delayed). There was a report that Bioshock sold over 1 million over 1 year ago, and we don't even know if the digital sales were included. Ever since then Bioshock had several promotions with DD services which no doubt gave them soem nice sales, especially the HUGE Steam deals that had Bioshock sell for only $4.99.

Do you have any links to support any of this?
well if we count out from those supposedly 200mln pc gamers(i doubt there is that many of them) Sims and mmo games community there's what? 40-50mln of gamers? most of those gamers are from niche market like sim racing fans, army sims(like ArmA 2, Operation Flashpoint etc.) and so on that is non existing on consoles. there's not many gamers simillar to console gamers - mainstream who play many different games. not to mention that console gamers tend to buy more games then pc gamers. just look at the fact that Crytek moved from pc to multiplatform with Crysis cause first game flopped hard on pc.
pc gaming in my country was strong - ps2 is still the best selling console with only 600k consoles sold LTD while best selling pc games hit 1mln mark(The Witcher). now pc gaming is almost non existing here - in the biggest electronic shops in my country in pc games section there are only either multiplatform games, crappy budget titles or anthologies. most of pc sections are same size as whole 360 or handhelds section, because pc games don't sell anymore. people are buying more consoles than pcs and in country where the selling point of pcs or ps2s was the fact that you could play pirated games it means a lot.

PC gaming has been growing really fast, with over 300 millions online PC gamers today. PC gaming is stronger than ever, and many experts/analysts think PC gaming will kill Console gaming, especially with the coming of Onlive and Gaikai. |
And how many of them have a good enough PC to run the latest titles like Resident Evil 5 and Alan Wake etc? 20 million? And you don't even need a PC for onlive. You need a TV or monitor and a internet connection. If anything Onlive would kill PC gaming..
It won't ever take off anyway. Not untill everybody can get download speeds of up to 5meg.
And Call of Duty 4 Modern warfare sales were much higher on the Xbox 360 than the PC. (aimed at your other post)

OH 360, It's your Birthday.
360, it's ya birthday.
360, it's ya birthday.
360, it's ya birthday.
No complaints about graphics either. Eveything seen for the last 5 years is confirmed by Remedy as 360 footage. Yes even the footage where PS3 owners said it wasnt possible on any current gen console. LOL. pwned.
Wow, he actually came back and said CoD4 sold more on PC.
Also, I love how he has zero items to back up his claims. Wow. I am flabbergasted.
He also mentioned a graph produced by a site that has no direct line to Live data. They are basing there claims on members of a site. Very inaccurate.

I love how you base all your figures on assumptions and estimations and never hard facts.
My opinion, that estimated, little doubt, possibly.
Whether or not they did sell more on the PC, publishers are still making more money off of console games. They retail for more for one example and piracy is not running wild. Did you know that ThePiratebay.org is in the top 10 visted websites on the internet?
