While I understand MS's position I hope they also understand mine. Instead of getting $50 from me off a retail PC copy, they will get to split the $7 it will cost me to rent it from Blockbuster. They lose me a full customer, and I get a game with inferior control and dumbed down graphics. Its just too bad really.

Gaming keeps a lot of people tied to Windows and away from stuff like the Mac and Linux. I wonder if they realize that? Locking people into their OS is worth more in the long run than anything else. Even piracy helps cement Windows as the de facto standard.

Why don't you write an e-mail to Microsoft then and give some tips on how to run a software business, since you seem to know better?

I think I made it very clear that I understand where they are coming from. Its in the first line. My point is that many folks i know stick with Windows because of gaming, that is the only place that other OSs don't have any equivalent. Everybody has browsers, office suites, compliers, ect. Gaming is the one thing that is either Windows or nothing. Certainly MS did this because of the piracy issue, I get that. Are you always this rude when somebody expresses a friendly opinion? Heck compared to some of the lamebraining (from the PC side) in this thread I would think you have plenty of better targets.

Seems someone said the magic word...piracy...

Blockbuster and every renting store pais MS or Sony for a full copy of the game and then the store rents that copy to many people.

A day 1 purchase/rent means full price and more copies sold,so more money.

A day 1 Pc leak/crack of a game means nothing to anyone but a missed profit and a money loss.

And don`t worry,Windows will live on because of WoW,Starcraft 2,Diablo 3,Crysis,Stalker and many more multyplat...trust me.

So i think MS is very smart as a company...a corporation actually. And the 5 people with quad-core Pc and high-priced video cards that will BUY Alan Wake will be very dissapointed that the Pc version is cancelled and will just have to buy a cheap 360 with exclusive games and console only games...the Horror...The Horror I tell`ya...

This. If Windows wasn't the only viable PC gaming OS I would be completely Microsoft free right now...augh.
