Forums - Microsoft - Remedy:'Alan Wake is Xbox 360 exclusive' (PC version shelved indefinitely)

I'd figure that Microsoft will use this game to entice people to upgrade to Windows 7. Creating a stir like this will make sure that the media focuses on this as an xbox 360 game and nothing else.

Remember that this game was originally demoed on a quad core processor a few years ago to make a case for quad core pc gaming and to showcase DX10, then it disappeared for a while, now it's a x360 exclusive? Get the fuck out microsoft.

Also, the OP needs to work on making more accurate thread titles. How do you figure the PC version is shelved indefinitely?

The 360 has 3 cores with 6 dedicated hardware threads(1 of which is unusable bye devs I think).  Very similar from that perspective.  Also, the 360 GPU was designed with forward looking features such as tesselation and such.  Not much difference there.

They are probably going to be releasing a PC version in the future.  Just keeping it mum for a while most likely.

hmm 3.2ghz / 2 = 1.6ghz threads if that what you mean. theorically topping 115gflops.

and no gpu wasn't designed for that, but it seems it's capable of being patch to support it.

If you are saying the 360 GPU was not designed for tesselation you are very mistaken.

without getting into that old argument, I only wanna say that Stan would look really silly here in Brazil saying he buys original games for his console, so I think it's really weird to be SO offended by PC pirates, with millions (MILLIONS!) pirating games in PCs, consoles and whatever else they can.

The difference between Pc gaming and console gaming (paid one) is that you can have your games in the livingroom where you have a big TV and a comfortable sofa. Pc monitors and chairs are ok,but not that great.

The gamepad VS keyboard and mouse -> great control on RTS and shooters, but that`s it. The gamepad takes everything else. So not really a difference, since shooters are ok with a controller.

The REAL difference is that you can RENT 360 and ps3 games, while on Pc why bother, when you can torrent the game day1 or even early. I imagine in Brazil there are no rent shops, but in US and UK,with millions of consoles sold, renting games day1 brings more money to developers because the shops have to buy the games first and then rent them.

See? Console gaming rulz

to shio, ps3 fanboys and all the whiners;
THIS IS ONLY A GAME AND NOT THE LAST SEXY WOMAN ON EARTH.

our planet won't implode, god will not piss on you, your mother will not abandon you and you won't have to have sex with Freddy Kruger if you won't play it.

I am confused, what is the difference?

i mean that all those people here whining about not getting Alan Wake on pc is ridiculous. it's just one single game.

"ohh no, i won't built my 800$ pc rig just to play this game with decent graphics, damn Microsoft i definitely won't buy 200$ console to play this game without any problem just like many other pc/360 games"

if you really want to play Alan Wake then buy Arcade for cheap cause there is definitely couple other 360 games you want to play as well and it only costs 200. during x-mas there will be probably many Arcades with free games or pricecuts so why not get one if you we're waiting just for this game for the last 5-6 years? last year during christmas in my country 360 Premium with Call of Duty: World at War was for 249$.

i won't give a penny to microsoft until they make a console with decent failure rate and a free online.

I wasn't that into the game though it does look nice graphically. I'd at least hope that they do eventually bring it to the PC at a later time. It's a bummer though for those who were excited for it over the years it's been in development.

Honestly, the argument from the console side is just as annoying as the extreme PC side.

---

Why spend another $250+ if you already had something to play it on? Just as one would say there are other games to play on the 360, there are other games to play on the PC. Though owning both can be nice.

I spend more gaming time on my PC than I do on consoles. My computer chair has served me well.

Now the plastic floor mat on the other hand....

"Would it be ok if a game promised for the Wii for 4+ years was suddenly cancelled in favor of the HD consoles or the PC? If you say no, then your reaction to this thread is hypocrytical..."
personally? i don't care cause there is plenty other games that would keep me occupied

"Oh no, I guess I'll have to use my PC to play other games and run work programs I already use"
that's why i have pc for work and console for games - it saves me a lot of money on upgrades. if i would like to play all those newer pc games with decent graphics i would have to spend 500+$ on pretty much everythink except drives and HDD(i have almost 4 year old pc that was quite decent at the time when built it but now it wouldn't even handle Gears of War or Mass Effect).

"I spend more gaming time on my PC than I do on consoles. My computer chair has served me well."
