Forums - Sony - If Activision pulls support on the PS3, how much will it affect the console

the guy came out and said he didnt really mean it, he was just more or less thinking aloud, even though he is an idiot for letting the thought cross his mind that would never happen

You guys are taking things too literally. He didn't mean pull all support. Obviously, the PS3 will still get CoD and GH. What MAY end up happening is that the PS3 doesn't get any new IP or risky (niche) games from Activision.

So how about we discuss the effects of that?

Then PS3 owners wouldn't get games like... and... or... Hum. Didn't Activision recently can a lot of new ips and niche titles because they only want to focus on their super mega blockbusters?

Too bad it wont happen

It probably won't happen, but there is still a chance it could.

No, there is no chance that it could. You just like to think that there is.

they would definitely release games like Call of Duty and Guitar Hero(rockband is not owned by activision i think), but smaller games would remain pc/360 games. i think it would affect ps3 - some other publishers would do the same and ps3 would end up only with milked franchises, spinoffs and sequels.

What makes you so sure they won't?

It cost them money to make PS3 games, and if they are not making it back, then there is no reason to continue supporting the PS3.

Its like when EA did not support the dreamcast. The Dreamcast died after only a few years.

Frankly I think Activision was bluffing. But if it happen, it would hurt PS3 greatly because that would be more of a reason to buy an Xbox 360.

How come everyone skipped my question. This would not be good for Activision at all. It would effectively lower their rank as 3rd party publisher thus fortifying the title of biggest 3rd party publisher to EA their competition.... Activision would rather brag about being the biggest 3rd party publisher and make small profit then let that happen.

Activision's "threat " as to slow the support to the titles they know they sell on PS3, not to totally abandon the platform. This only means less games on PS3 not "no game ever".

Moderns warfare will still be developed on PS3, but other games will never be released on the system. Why wasting efforts on games that don't sell? better focus on the ones that do sell on PS3, right?
