I just got my gamestop ad in my e-mail and it looks as though prototype now retails for $49.99 on the HD consoles and $39.99 on PC. Quite the hasty drop imo.

Doesn't make much sense, Prototype has nearly hit a million across PS360 in a month, its doing well.

Well, it is $50 at Amazon and $60 at Bestbuy

It would have some notification if it were a temporary drop. The ad says "Price Drop" so I'm assuming it's permanent.

What, but this game is selling well. I hope it hits 1 million on xbox 360 in a couple months.

Amazon had a one day sale at $40 for both console versions of Prototype. Wouldn't be surprised if it is a permanent drop to $50 at most outlets.

Infamous also dropped down to $50 despite the respectable sales as well, so it's becoming a bit more common to see these early sales.

Gamestop dropped the price of a bunch of older games down to $20 this week, but the big drop was for Bionic Commando at $20 as well, likely because it was overshipped and undersold.

inFAMOUS is still $59 at gamestop...at least for now.
