Not having night time racing in Le Mans 24 hour is fail fail fail fail in terms of realism.

I'm referring to how a car behaves. Car behaviour >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> looks of the game. Because if night racing is implemented. You then have the track cooling down. Maybe from 30 to 18. This agian makes the handling of a car change completely. Braking zones change, accelerating changes as does race lines. It's not like you can just implement something like night racing unless you can replicate the changes realistically. Night Racing isn't just about it going dark. It changes your driving completely.

Don't bother trying to educate them mate, they honestly do not understand what a racing simulator should be.  Having spent so long building a accurate tyre model for FM3, I don't blame T10 for not wanting to ruin all the hard work by adding "basic" wet weather physics like every other racer has.  No console racer will accurately model water physics well enough to make a accurate driving simulator in wet weather conditions.  If you want to model wet weather you have to factor in a entire physics model of its own, or go the PGR way and just reduce the friction coefficient and pretend the car has less grip due to rain.  This isn't simulation then.

Not having night time racing in a 24 hour event is silly though Selnor so it's a fair point but hardly game breaking.

Fancy a bet Carl, I'll bet you $1000 that Forza Motorsport 3 scores better on Metacritic 4 weeks after the release of GT5 in all regions.  I'm that confident FM3 will not be the massive failure that your supposed impartial opinion seems to think.  Seems a fairly safe bet to me for you to win given you and others comments in here.

so by your reasoning developers shouldnt impliment damage as it isnt simulation:)?

Carl please, stop it... GT5 doesn't have noob mode one button driving. Therefore in my mind its an instant fail.

Tease.

I am not going to argue that night racing and weather changes aren't necessary. I will just say that comparing Forza 3 to other simpler games which had those features is very unfair.

Why? Because Forza 3 aims to be a much more realistic game than those other games. It's not hard to implement half-assed weather changes which don't correctly change the physics. It's much harder to do it correctly with realistic physics, which is how Turn 10 would want to do it if they had the budget/time for it.

My point? Compare Forza 3 to GT5 all you want, but don't criticize Forza 3 for not having features that simpler games have.

i was wondering when selnor would enter the fray..

Be careful NJ5, that's the same line fanatics used to defend the lack of damage in Gran Turismo.

So it did turn into a thread about GT, deviating from the lack of features in Forza? Well, I got one part right. You tell me if I got the "Sony fanboys" part right too. I'm too lazy to go through 5 pages

I'm not even going to read the comments. I'm just going to assume that either Zen or selnor (definitely selnor) will come in here and spin this to hell and back.

And everything in between will be labeled as "sony fanboys".....even though this article is about Forza's lack of features, and nothing about Gran Turismo.

Not exactly; these three features on the thread title are supposed to be part of GT5, so the thread starter was pretty much looking for this.

But again, Sony and Polyphony Digital have been dangling the GT5 carrot to sell PS3's while they were busy making GT for PSP... but of course expecting people to redirect the backlash back to who it belongs it's too much so expect crap like this at least for the following 5-6 months. It's been a constant presence on the boards since E3 already and it's not gonna change.

We have "sort of official" threads for both games, but the shit keeps spilling all over.

No I wasn´t. I was just posting news I read that I thought was Interesting.

Don´t ever confuse me with trolls and flamebaiting thread creators.

Never heard of anyone who studied racing for 16 years and plays a racing game with automatic.

And never heard of a realistic racing game without a realistic wheel.

It's call Gran Turismo, the bumper car simulator.

I feel sorry for you that you don't know how to drive in a video game that you need to bump other cars to take a corner.

So a definitive racing sim of the gen means they don't have time/budget to include extra features.

Or the extra features are too hard for them?
