Forums - Gaming - Why do you want consoles/companies to fail?

The same reason why people want their sports team to succeed and their rivals to fail.

I don't think anybody earnestly is happy when a rival team's star player becomes crippled for life, but until then they'll be happy to say that the guy sucks cock, and it's all in good fun when it's only that.

its human nature... as i try to do, ignore them (like we say here in portugal "Leva lá a bicicleta" that means something like "take home the bicycle" doesnt make many sense to you but here its very popular)... i for once cant understand why so many people buy the wii but is far from my job to make them change and think different... if they are happy with it more power to them... its like rockers and rappers... soccer fans and so on and on...

In business, there is little room for companies to all succeed. That waters down the profits and digs into your operating costs. There has to be a winner and a loser. That's the world of business. Why even go into business if you are taking losses? People enter business to succeed.

Wow my first sentence sucked. Yea I understand the business part.

I meant to say I understand why MS would like Sony to leave the business but I cant understand why a person who likes games would like to see Sony leave. Simple example.

Why would someone care about thousands of strangers losing their job unless he works there or someone he knows? Because it's the right thing to do? Still doesn't make me care for it

Investors get shafted? That's the risk in taking big investments, no?

Many people losing their favorite company? I would care the least for this, I've seen too many insults that wii games look like N64 games, ps1 games, 8 bit games, etc No, I do not care for them. Not at all.

I personally didn't want the PS3 to dominate at the price point it came out at. If it had, it would of set trends for consoles clocking in over $600. That makes videogaming not affordable. Wasn't necessarily looking for it to fail, but not be the top console at that price. I also found Sony Fanboys beyond annoying. I go back to Sega days, and remember the gloating over the Playstation brand and the eagerly awaiting the Dreamcast to die so Sega would be forced to release games on their console. I had stated at the time, that Dreamcast ports to the PS2 would mostly not be as good as they were on the Dreamcast. Crazy Taxi was one proof of this.
