The XMB is great... I also preferred blades to the NXE... NXE is clunky and crowded as shit...
Wii has the best navigational menu though IMO (exc. PC of course).. Shortcuts FTW!

What is wrong with the PS3's interface? I couldnt think of anything to change. They could modify the player's profile thing though.
Thank GOD!!! Sony you are a bitch if you ever FORCE us into a new interface like Microsoft did. The XMB is amazing and changing it would be fucking retarded.

I'm not a big fan of the cross media bar interface on the PlayStation 3. It's functional, efficient and perfect for a handheld like the PSP, but after Microsoft's impressive (if understandably flawed) overhaul of the Xbox 360 interface with last fall's New Xbox Experience, I've been hoping Sony has been quietly working on something similar for their console. Apparently not. "Right now the XMB [cross media bar] is an Emmy Award-winning interface and people like it," said Sony director of network operations Eric Lempel to CVG. "They're very comfortable with it. So we're not looking to do anything radical. We'll still do some research behind the scenes and see what can we do to make things better, or how can we make it so consumers find content faster, but right now we're pretty happy with it. No plans right now to do anything like what the competitor has done." You know my thoughts already -- something a little flashier isn't a bad thing, is it? |
As someone who basically hates the NXE (and those stupid avatars) and loves the XMB, I'm happy about this. Its not just perfect for PSP, its perfect for consoles, netbooks, even (tweeked) perfect for PCs.
That said, they ARE making it flashier. They are adding dynamic themes. Which can be as colorful and animated as you should possibly want.
I love the xmb, just want that little big planet theme i saw earlier in the week
There is absolutely nothing wrong with the XMB. I like to know where everything is, and so do many, many other people.
As long as they don't clutter it up with a bunch of crap I will never use, I'm fine with making it flashier, just as 3.00 will do.
can't wait for Track Season 2009/2010, guna beast out!
Travis Touchdown ERECTION CONFIRMED!

Never been a big fan of the XMB (on the PSP or my blu-ray player); the XMB on the PS3, did nothing to change my mind. I wouldn't mind some changes but sounds like I'm in the minority.
NXE has tons of advertising for all sorts of stuff on it. XMB literally has NO advertising on it.
I like my XMB, but NXE is cooler. theres like polls and stuff for like "what are your top 5 zombie games" ect. so people will look around for fun quick stuff like that.
While they do that theyll see a bunch of advertising that they might want to check out.
XMB in no way can get advertiements. To me, i don care if there is or isnt advertisments.
I just think it could help out sony and other companies.
