Why would I need to see more tv? I've seen tons of wii ads... I see those all the time. They just never show ads for ps3 here.

I only see Wii ads on cartoon network (which means very rarely). Unfortunetaly, they're always about mediocre games like The Conduit and Animal Crossing. Punch out looked great though.

Uh-ohs. Wii fanboy attack imminent!
Nah, AC is mediocre. I guess the conduit is mediocre(It's not for me), but out of all wii games I'll play it the most. Not everyone is an annoying fanboy. I'm a Ninty fanboy, but I don't hate on other peoples opinions.
Anyway I see wii ads all the time on the biggest tv channels in my country. I've seen one xbox360 ad though for gears of war. It was pretty epic too.

And I never met anybody that pirated PS2 games....... |
you must not get out much
I am amazed by the amount of people that believe the amount of pirated downloads on a torrent site is equivilant to missed sale or even close to it.

No doubt it impact sales... but no where near as much as the industry wants you to believe. Most of those sale would not have occured within the first place because the person doing the download either does not have the mean or the desire to go out an purchase the game.
There is a phrase my friend like to use to justify his gaming habit (aka piracy). I will buy the game that I think are worth a purchase and download the one that are not.
In developing country it's even more obvious, who has the resource to purchase legitimate games when people have problem keeping the family cloth and fed? In many cases its not even possible to get those games / console through the correct channel, and overall economy (piracy) is the only way they can afford a luxury like gaming.
A girl friend from China once asked me what the 'tray' on the back of her PSP is for, she genuinely does not know that the UMD reader is actually use to play game, she thought they were all 'free' once you bought the system and was amaze that was not the case.
These are the type of people (and they are the majority) who will never buy the game regardless of the ability to pirate.

I hear ya. But at the same time, there's also a ton of piracy in North America and Europe.
people have the thought: "Why pay when I can get it for free?"
Look at how much downloading mp3's has hurt the music business. It's absolutely destroyed it. Record sales are down tremendously (even before the recession).
I wouldnt be surprised if some games were pirated over 1 million times. Now ofcourse, not ALL of those ppl wouldve ended up buying the game, but a lot of them surely would have.
