Forums - Gaming - What will continue to hurt the PS3?

The thing that will keep PS3 from doing better over the next year is momentum. Sony has lost all kinds of it, Nintendo has tons of it, and Microsoft seems to be gaining it (though that may just be a symptom of the holiday season and major game releases).

Once your momentum has shifted in this industry, it's hard to change it. Sony is right to make this price cut now, because if PS3 doesn't shift some serious units this holiday, a lot of third parties will be distancing themselves even further from PS3 in the new year.

I still have a problem with the term "casual" being used to describe a Wii player.

It makes it sound like I wear a cardigan & play Wii sports but never for more than 30 minutes at a time, all the time sipping a glass of red wine in between shots on golf.

Whereas the PS3 owner is proudly doing an hour of finger flexes to warm up for a 14 hour motorcross "session" with the phone off the hook and the blinds pulled down.

Gimme an f-in break!!!!

More likely im getting wood at some obscure PC engine game on the virtual console and they're sitting there with 2 buddies drinking a couple of beers and talking about how the HD graphics are "more realistic than real life" and thus they're "having a good time".

I did put casual in quotes as I know that many of the Wii owners are not just casual gamers.  Hell I would only consider one of my friends a casual Wii owner as most also have a 360 and two have the PS3 as well.  I do think is fair to say the Wii has thwe most of the casual gamers compared to the 360 and PS3.  Same way you can say most hardcore gamers probably lean towards a 360 or PS3. The Wii has a better price point then both and has many games that appeal to more casual gamers while the 360 and PS3 have more hardcore games etc.  Also I don't usually refer to Wii, 360, PS3 players as I go by gamers and lump them all in.  Sorry if you have an issue with me quoting casual but I am pretty sure your in the minority thinking that people think Wii owners are mainly casual so I didn't think it was something I had to explain.  In terms of your PS3 example my cousin has hardly played his PS3 and currently doesn't even have a game.  I guess that is just my experience.

Sorry wasnt really moaning at you elnino, just the word "Casual" being used to describe anything to do with a Wii in general.

@danny355

Is understandable. Hope I wasn't too harsh as I just wanted to be clear. I appreciate people taking the time to read my post as it is nice to get feedback so I may respond even if they disagree or if I am wrong.
